Project abstract

The PhD project is intended to perform quantitative analysis of the fundamental physical and chemical processes taking place at the interface between switching plasma arcs and polymeric walls. The focus of the project will be oriented towards the quantitative study of the energy transfer mechanism to polymeric walls exposed to switching plasma arcs and the investigation of the composition and density of vapours released from the polymer surface.


Summary of work

2016-02. A major experimental campaign was carried out at plasma research institute INP in Greifswald, Germany. The campaign was carried out during 7 weeks with start 14th of February. Experiments with two nozzle designs were performed with a spatially resolved spectrograph (provided by INP).

2016. Experimental setup at KTH has been updated and moved to new lab facilities.

2017. Analysis of experimental results obtained in 2016 at INP has been completed and journal paper to be submitted


Event log

2016. Two conference paper based on data from the experimental campaign at INP were presented at GD2016, 21st International Conference on Gas Discharges and Their Applications in Nagoya, Japan.
