Workshop 2019 - Stockholm:

The 1st High-5 workshop was held 10th June 2019 at KTH, in the Division of Electromagnetic Engineering, in Teknikringen 31, SE-10044 Stockholm, Sweden. During the workshop, we had presentations from KTH (Prof. Oscar Quevedo-Teruel and Dr. Fatemeh Ghasemifard) and representatives of our industrial partners: Ericsson (Dr. Astrid Algaba-Brazalez) and Sunway Communications (Dr. Alireza Motevasselian). The presentations focused on the achieved results in High-5, and the present and future needs of electromagnetic devices from the industry.

Additionally, we had guest speakers from University of Zagreb (Croatia), the European Space Agency (ESA) and Sencept (Sweden). Prof. Zvonimir Sipus, from university of Zagreb, presented his recent research on dielectric glide-symmetric structures. Dr. Nelson Fonseca presented his recent work on geodesic lenses and its application for satellite communications and 5G. Finally, Dr. Iman Vakili introduced the present challenges in radars for automotive applications, including the present and future needs for antenna designs. We had also representatives of Vinnova: Smartare Elektroniksystem.

During the workshop, we will had poster session, in which the Master students (Martin Petek and Ramez Hamarneh), PhD students (Qiao Chen, Oskar Dahlberg) and Post-docs (Fatemeh Ghasemifard) were able to discuss with the industrial partners their research activities. These discussions were aimed to better connect the industrial needs with the research within High-5.
